In the end Manny Pacquiao took the victory after putting in a stunning performance. He tore Margarito apart in a masterful display of boxing to take his eighth world title. The fight for the WBC Light-middleweight Belt went to 12 rounds and Pacquiao’s resilience, speed and stamina really paid off. Margarito had appeared to be in great shape before the fight and after his year-long suspension for using illegal handwraps, had a point to prove.

It wasn’t all one-sided though and during the central part of the fight Margarito landed several good blows.
In the tenth round though Margarito almost looked down and out as he took some punishing punches from Pacquiao but managed to keep to his feet and by the eleventh many were wondering if the fight would be stopped. By the final round it was all elementary and Pacquiao knew he had it in the bag and just had to see out the last three minutes.
At the bell the scores were 120-108, 118-110, and 119-109, a result which we could see coming from the first round. Pacquiao was quite simply outstanding, but it should be noted that Margarito put on an impressive and brave performance to make this fight one to remember. Will we eventually see Pacquiao vs. Mayweather? That remains to be seen but for now Pacquiao should just enjoy this victory which he won in style.
