Fort Sumter The First Battle: The Postal Service has issued two new stamps to commemorate the first year of the war, 150 years ago. The stamps, issued in ceremonies in Charleston, South Carolina, shows the bombardment of Fort Sumter in South Carolina and the First Battle of Bull Run, Virginia.

"From this day, these historic images of Fort Sumter and the First Battle of Bull Run will be held in the letters and packages to millions of homes and businesses across the United States, James C. Miller III of the Board the administration of postal service in a statement dedicating the stamps.

Designated "forever" stamps, sells two of the current rate of 44 cents first class and remains valid for first class letters, regardless of future increases in shipping prices.

Two stamps marking the beginning of the war in 1861, followed by additional stamps to commemorate anniversaries of major events of the war until 2015.
