Family associates of McKayla Maroney were clothed in T-shirts with the term “Air Maroney” as they cheered on the 16-year-old gymnast as she taken aspect on the container.
Maroney’s dad is a local of Milford.
“It’s very interesting. It’s well-deserved on her aspect. It’s the finale of the last seven decades. She is been exercising for six to eight time a day,” James Maroney said.
McKaylay’s effort gained her a 15.8 regular ranking in Sunday’s semifinals, placing her in first position.
Maroney’s tale of achievements is an motivation to youthful sportsmen with goals of one day competitive in the Olympics.
“It requires a lot of effort and perseverance, and sometimes it does not always go excellent and you have to focus on one goal,” said Scott Jackson, a gymnast, that is also buddies with Maroney.
Young gymnasts at Air time Gymnastics in Enfield said they have been exercising for decades and wish to at some point get a taken at an Olympic honor.
“It just gets me inspired. … Someday, it’s possible for those here to be doing that,” said Casey Zolltor, 12.
“It’s awesome to be able to do some of the things that they can do,” said Debbie O’Brien, 13.
As for McKayla Maroney, she’s displaying the globe what she can do and will contend in the Team USA finals on Wednesday evening.
