Serena Williams is done for 2010, just like her sister Venus, due to injuries.

Serena re-tore the tendon' in her right foot.

It was originally injured by cutting it on glass in a freak accident at a restaurant shortly after winning Wimbledon in July. In a statement to the AP, Williams says she had "another procedure to repair'' the tendon on Monday.

The Williams sisters will miss the WTA Championships next week in Doha, Qatar, and the Fed Cup final between the United States and Italy next month at San Diego.

Serena last played in July, when she won her fourth Wimbledon championship and 13th Grand Slam singles title overall.

Inactivity has caused her to slip to the No. 2 ranking in ATP, with Caroline Wozniacki crowned as women's tennis new top-ranked player earlier this month.

The 20-year old from Denmark is the first player from that country, male or female, to hold the sport's No. 1 ranking.
