Stealth omicron The variant is available in Washington state

A new sub-variant of the coronavirus has been discovered in Washington state, and health officials are now investigating what that means.

The first thing to understand is that this is not its own variant. This is a sub-variant, and Doctors say there's no reason to worry it'll make the nation any worse than the already basic Omicron.

This difficult-to-identify subvariant is officially known as BA.2 and is now called “stealth omicron.”

The World Health Organization says this alternative study should be independently prioritized and compared to BA.1, the first Omicron.

The Director-General of the WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanam Ghebreissas said that this comes just a day after the global situation favored the emergence of new variants.

According to the CDC, the new variant is currently less in circulation. However, the subvariant here has been found in about half of the states in the United States and two cases so far in Washington state.
