IOS 14 and iPad 14: Checklist to Prepare to Update Your iPhone and iPad

Apple just released the latest operating systems for your iPhone and iPad but is preparing your devices before installing them.

Apple's iOS 14 and iPad 14 updates for the iPhone (699 euros on Amazon) and iPad (270 euros in the secondary market) are important in order to improve the data protection and iMessage functions of the home screen widgets from the new application library.

Before you install iOS 14 and iPad 14, however, there are a few basic things you need to do to keep your iPhone and iPad updated as smoothly as possible. We have put together a checklist to get your phone or tablet ready

Don't skip this step - clean up the clutter

When it's time to update your software or phone, take a few minutes to remove any photos or apps that you don't want or need from your camera roll and installed apps.

Our phones collect digital drawers, random screenshots, photos, videos and disposable apps. Taking a few minutes to clean it up will free up space, reduce the wait to backup, and save money by simply paying for additional iCloud storage to store your backups.

Make a new backup, it's important

If you can help with this, then you shouldn't update your iPhone or iPad without a recent backup. Updates are not a perfect process, and sometimes things go wrong. The last thing you want is for an update to fail and then your phone to set up as new. Nobody wants it.

It is best to correct this step before starting the update process as there is a lot of data stored in the backup.

You can back up your devices to PC using iCloud using Mac Finder or iTunes. ICloud is the easiest way to go simply because it's built into your device and only requires a Wi-Fi connection. However, if you are not running out of iCloud storage or you want more control over device backup, you can use your own computer.
