David Sukhin was in sixth grade when he developed an algorithm to predict when his school would make the announcement that there would be no school due to a snowstorm. Time.com reports that David is now in 11th grade but his calculator is still predicting snow days accurately with no failures.

What is Sukhin's secret behind his snow day calculator? He's not leaking the full details, but did inform WBUR that it is a combination of information from Weather.gov, school district strictness and how much effort is put into snow removal in the area.

Will your child's school have a snow day tomorrow? Even without a snow day calculator, It looks possible in many areas of the midwest with a blizzard watch issued by the National Weather Service for Tuesday, February 1. The Northeast won't escape a storm either, with heavy snow and ice expect over the next few days.

Groundhog Day 2011

Groundhog Day 2011 is on Wednesday and you don’t have to turn on the news to find out just how close–or far away–spring is.

we all want winter to be over! But, if the groundhog sees his shadow on February 2nd, we’re in for two more weeks of winter.

By the way, Groundhog Day is always on February 2nd. The largest Groundhog Day celebration is held in Punxsutawney, PA. Though I grew up in PA and always knew about Groundhog Day, the holiday seemed to gain more recognition after the 1993 movie came out.

Have you seen it? Bill Murray was hilarious in Groundhog Day.

Steve Harvey's Ex-Wife, Mary Harvey

Steve Harvey's ex-wife Mary Harvey is still slamming the comedian, even as he's insisted her claims are "lies."

It’s hard to tell if Mary Harvey is a victim of a truly rancid marriage or if she’s totally off her nut. Days after the scathing YouTube diatribes about ex-husband Steve Harvey became an internet sensation, Mary Harvey spoke with radio host Tom Joyner today in an apparent attempt to broker peace between Steve and Mary Harvey for the sake of their son, 13-year-old Wynton. I don’t think Mary Harvey made a good case for herself.

During her conversation on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Steve Harvey’s ex wife compared herself to a rape victim and said allowing Steve Harvey to offer advice to woman, “it’s like saying to someone who was raped and had not had closure from his attacker that he’s still doing some good.” Strong and disturbing words.

She further said that Wynton Harvey is suffering the most from this drama … so why release videos on YouTube dissing his dad? I hope someone can bring peace to this family because whatever Mary Harvey may believe about Steve, she’s not helping her son by airing their dirty laundry so publicly.

Alex Brown Texting and Driving

The crew got help from Justin Bieber tonight to help the Brown family. But the story of the Browns and their daughter Alex Brown really hit home for me as the mom of two teen daughters. Tonight’s episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition visited the Brown Family— Jeanne, Johnny Mac and their daughter Katrina.

Starlet Emma Roberts ditched the awards show glam and joined Justin Bieber and NASCAR stars Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle to appear on ABC Sunday's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" in honor of the Remember Alex Brown Foundation, a nonprofit organized after 17-year-old Alexandra Brown rolled her pickup truck and died on her way to school. She was texting and driving.

After being alerted that her daughter hadn't made it to school, Alex's mother Jeannie drove out to find the wreck of the truck. "Although no other vehicles were involved, Alex was not alone," she writes on the Foundation's official website. "The cell phone on which she had sent and receive over 10,000 text messages in the weeks preceding her accident was with her."

Volunteers arrived at the Brown home in Lubbock, TX to rebuild their home - now occupied by the remaining three family members, Jeanne, Johnny Mac, and Alex's 12-year-old sister Katrina a year after Alex's death.

"If Alex was here and seeing all this she would be so excited for us," Katrina told reporters. "She'd be like, 'I'm so glad y'all are getting this! Y'all are doing good. Keep going.'"

The Browns decided to start the Remember Alex Brown Foundation the day she died. "I chose to do it that day at the hospital," her father says. "We have to put the [wrecked] truck on a trailer and we have to go to schools and tell people about the dangers of texting and driving."

"Extreme Makeover" asked Roberts to join in for two reasons. "She's an incredible young actress," said Ty Pennington, "and she's a teen so she understands how big of an epidemic texting and driving is."

"After hearing Alex's story I just think texting and driving is really a problem," Roberts says. "To hear that this happened to someone so young -- that really kind of was a little bit of a wake-up call. I have a nine year old sister and to think of her losing me, or me losing her -- I can't even comprehend that."

John Krasinski The Office

John Krasinski (pronounced /krəˈzɪnski/; born October 20, 1979) is an American actor, film director and writer. He is most widely known for playing Jim Halpert on the NBC sitcom The Office. He has also appeared in several films including Away We Go, Leatherheads, License to Wed and It's Complicated.

The Office” will hurt from losing Steve Carell, but I think it would be in more trouble if John Krasinski left. Jim is the heart and soul of that show, and in real life Krasinski seems like perfect dad material – down to earth, funny, modest and handsome. You’re probably watching for him right now at the SAG Awards, where he’s won a best ensemble trophy twice before for “The Office.” Here’s five things you may not know about John Krasinski, husband of adorable “Devil Wears Prada” actress Emily Blunt:

1. He grew up in Newton, Mass., where he palled around with future “Office” co-star B.J. Novak.

2. He’s very smart. He graduated with honors from Brown University.

3. Know those clips of Scranton, Pa., that appear in the opening credits for “The Office?” Krasinski filmed those.

4. Blunt and Krasinski owe their marriage to Anne Hathaway – she set them up after co-starring with Blunt in “Devil.”

5. He’s a former “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” intern.

Pro Bowl 2011

The 2011 AFC–NFC Pro Bowl 2011 will be the NFL's all-star game for the 2010 season. It will take place at 7:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Pro Bowl 2011 takes place today, and for football fans still feeling the excitement from an exciting two conference championship games last weekend, this game is sure to be a major letdown. And that's despite the NFL's best efforts to make the Pro Bowl more relevant and timely by moving it to the week between conference championship and Super Bowl Sunday.

The game is billed as the NFL's All Star game, but by putting the game smack dab in the middle of huge games played by what amounts to the league's top four teams, much of the star power is sucked out of the contest.

A whopping 22 players who were elected to the Pro Bowl have dropped out in advance of the game set to take place in Honolulu, Hawaii later today. That's an entire game's worth of players bowing out due to various reasons, be it injury, fatigue, or otherwise. To me, this is just one of the many signs that the Pro Bowl needs to once again be re-calibrated heading into 2011.

I understand that players drop out of every major league's all star game, and also concede that this would still be an issue if the Pro Bowl were to take place in the middle of the regular season.

But consider the fact that the league is looking to expand the regular season to 18 games as part of the new collective bargaining agreement. There is an ideal way to do this and also build in an added week of rest for players who are understandably concerned about the added wear and tear of an additional two games on their schedules.

Move the Pro Bowl to the middle of the season and have it serve as a legitimate All Star break, similar to what the other three major sports leagues do with their games. Players get a week of rest, even the ones that are elected to the game considering it's basically glorified flag football.

You also get more attention from more casual fans, as football season is only getting started, and fans of the lesser successful teams might be more invested in their squads than they would be in late January, a month after most teams' seasons ended.

To me that's at least a good starting point for how to handle the Pro Bowl in the future. Having it mid-season would get it more attention and more viewers, which is all the NFL ultimately cares about. It also would give the players an extra week of rest, which is a big concern for them.

Grand Am Rolex 24

After a night of fog and caution flags, the Grand Am Rolex 24 is back up to speed, its long line of cars roaring around Daytona International Speedway as the rising sun burns of the last of the haze.

After a difficult qualifying session on Thursday, where both cars hard to find the speed, the team regrouped and made the best of the remaining test sessions. Both cars were noticeably faster in the last session before the race, which proves that the team had found the necessary speed for the race.

The # 33 Kinetic Motorsports BMW M3 E92 Jade Buford and Bryan Sellers suffered a big crash in the Grand-Am 200 race at Daytona International Speedway today. Although they were able to continue the race briefly, despite taking the air and burst back windshield, the damages finally got the best of BMW.

The team had an early race by qualifying good pilot Jade Buford the 11th position in the Grand Sport (GS) class. He had moved the E92 recently built six positions before when another BMW failed braking into the first corner and rear-ended him. After pitting to access damage, co-driver Bryan Sellers took the wheel and could add another twenty laps before having to retire due to residual effects of accident damage.

Jade Buford, pilot # 33 Kinetic Motorsports BMW M3 E92 “The team did a great job. The car was fantastic. It was just unfortunate about the incident that happened to us. It was the fault, not driver error. We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. We started at 11 and were able to work only way to fifth on the speed of the car alone. About 35 minutes after race, just coming into the first turn at Daytona, one of the cars must have missed a brake pedal or something and hit the back of us and sent us back. The car went a little air and shattered the rear window. He seems to have damaged the axle and other parts. The car had to withdraw thereafter.

“I’m really happy with how everything went very early with the limited time available to us in practice to make a good set-up of the car. The team worked really hard to prepare the car for the race. They did a fantastic job. I cannot be happier and I’m looking forward to a good season. We’ll get a job done for us with this series competitive. ”

Bryan Sellers, pilot # 33 Kinetic Motorsports BMW M3 E92: “It ended up being a very difficult day but he started well enough. Jade is up to fifth place in qualifying the car 11. He did a great job forward and it seemed he was moving the way it should be. Unfortunately, one of the BimmerWorld cars looked like it decided not to stop and completely destroyed the rear of the car, the windshield, exhaust, and so on. He entered the pits and I could get in the car. The pace was very good with all these problems are there, but eventually the damage has just taken his effect. He was hit so hard in the back; he injured the amount, it hurt the transmission shafts some, the wheel studs and more. The wheel is closed up almost falling, because it does ‘There were only two blocks left. It was a difficult day for everyone in the BMW team. “

Richard Wayne Penniman Stage Name Little Richard

Richard Wayne Penniman (born December 5, 1932), known by the stage name Little Richard, is an American singer, songwriter, pianist, bandleader and recording artist, considered key in the transition from rhythm and blues to rock and roll in the 1950s.

“He claims that” the architect of rock and roll, and history seems to confirm have Little Richard more than any other artist -. Save, perhaps, Elvis Presley, Little Richard blew the lid of the Fifties, laying the groundwork for rock and roll with his explosive music and charismatic persona. The album, which was hair-raising rock and roll. His playing frantically charged piano and hoarse voice shouted in such classics as “Tutti Frutti,” “Long Tall Sally” and “Good Golly, Miss Molly” defined the dynamic sound of rock and roll. ”

Penniman began acting on stage and on the road in 1945 when he was in his teens. He began his recording career on October 16, 1951 to imitate the gospel influenced style of the late 1940s jump blues artist Billy Wright, who was a friend who set him up with the opportunity to record. His recordings of the early fifties, however, failed to commercial success.

In 1955, under the leadership of Robert “Bumps” Blackwell, Penniman began recording in a style he had been performing on stage for years, with varied rhythms (derived from everything from drum beats you hear his voice to the sounds of the trains that thunder is heard by him as a child), a heavy backbeat, funky saxophone grooves, gospel-style singing over the top, moans, screams, and other emotive inflections, accompanied by a combination of boogie -woogie and rhythm and blues. This new music, which includes an initial injection of funk into the beat of rock and roll, inspired many of the greatest recording artists of the twentieth century, including James Brown, Elvis Presley, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, and other generations of rhythm & blues, rock, soul and musical artists.

On October 12, 1957, while at the summit of stardom, resigned abruptly Penniman rock and roll and became a born again Christian. It had drawn original seventeen hits in less than three years. In January 1958, he enrolled in the Bible and attended college to become a preacher and evangelist and began recording and performing gospel music for only a few years. He then moved back and forth from the rock and roll to the ministry until he was able to reconcile the two roles in later life.

Penniman was among the first group of recruits into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and one of only four artists (along with Ray Charles, James Brown, Fats Domino) to get the rhythm and Blues Foundation’s Pioneer Career Award. In 2003, Penniman was inducted into the Hall of Fame Composers. In 2007, his original 1.955 hit “Tutti Frutti” was voted number 1 by an eclectic group of renowned artists at Mojo’s top 100 records that changed the world, from the recording as “the sound of the birth of rock and roll. In 2010, the United States Library of Congress United States National Recording Registry unprecedented added the record for registration, claiming that the positive response, with the original “A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop-a- lop-bam-boom! “A capella introduction heralded a new era in music.

In 2000, Robert Townsend directs a television biography titled Little Richard on the artist’s life from infancy to 30 years (circa 1962). Leon Robinson received an Emmy nomination for her performance in the starring role.

Penniman continued recording, concerts and television appearances throughout the decade. He wrote and recorded a song for the 2001 film The Trumpet of the Swan. In 2002, he recorded a rock version of Johnny Cash “Get Rhythm” by Kindred Spirits: A Tribute to Johnny Cash. In 2005, he and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded a duet of the Beatles ‘hit “I saw her standing there” for Lewis’ 2006 album The Last Man Standing. In 2006, he appeared in atelevision ad for Geico success. Later that year was hired by Simon Cowell to be a judge on the Fox TV shows Celebrity Duets. On March 24, 2007, Penniman gave recitals in the event students from the University of Texas “40 Acres Fest, with bands of 1200. He also starred that year in the Capitol Fourth, a July 4 celebration in front of the White House. On July 25, 2007, made an appearance on the ABC show The Next Best Thing. On November 22, 2007, who led the half-hour of a football game on Thanksgiving at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. In 2007, to help raise funds to benefit sick and dying children, and to discredit the idea that Don Imus was a racist, he recorded a track reviews for the Imus Ranch Record (2008). In June 2008, Penniman also made a cameo on The Young and the Restless as an ordained minister of piano playing.

Reverend Richard Penniman, who had performed the wedding ceremonies of celebrities such as Cyndi Lauper, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Van Zandt and John Branca (for which Michael Jackson was best man) are referred to his old friend of Wilson Pickett in January 2006 funeral, officiated at a wedding of 20 couples in December 2006, and preached in December 2007 Ike Turner funeral. [Unreliable source?] On May 30, 2009, after a performance in honor of Fats Domino to raisefunds to help rebuild playgrounds children devastated by Hurricane Katrina, Penniman took Domino and others present in prayer. On June 12, 2009, before the grand final for the 29th Annual Music Festival Riverbend in Chattanooga, Tennessee, said, “even though they sing rock ‘n’ roll, God still loves me. I am the rock ‘n’ roll singer, but I am still a Christian. ” In late November 2009, Penniman asked for fans to pray for his rapid and complete recovery from a recent surgery on one hip, which had been causing pain in his left leg for some time.

Little Richard continued to recover from surgery on his left hip in the first part of 2010. In 5 to 6 June 2010, spent time in the house of Rock in Franklin, Tennessee, to record a new track – a version of Dottie Rambo “He’s never done anything to me, but good,” as part of a star tribute to the legend of late composition of the Gospel, to be released in 2011.

Born the third of twelve children, Penniman was raised in a family with deep roots evangelical Christian. His father, who told him he had ruined his desire to have seven children by S-EX-ual mannerism, expelled him from the house. After Penniman began making records, his father had begun to open to him. But he was shot by the best friend of Penniman, Frank, outside a local bar. At the time Penniman was 19 years old.

Penniman was actively involved in the orgies in the mid 1950′s. In June 1956, Penniman done what has been described as his soul mate for life, a voluptuous young woman by the name of Audrey Robinson, who also went by the name of Lee Angel. Robinson, who was 16 years of age when they first met, he had graduated from high school early and was a college student at the time. After conversion to Christianity Penniman in October 1957, she married Ernest Campbell, whom he met at a meeting of the Evangelical Church. They married in 1959. Penniman had some difficulties to live a disciplined Christian life and has drawn both to the show that ended up divorcing his wife in 1963. The marriage produced no children, however, Penniman adopted the child of a deceased partner church in the 1960′s.

After more than a decade of wildlife, Penniman found a series of devastating personal experiences, including a near fatal crash, by drugs with his longtime friend, Larry Williams in 1977. He returned to the gospelministry and away from new rock and roll music, saying it was not possible to serve God and bring out that style of music at the same time. Before the death of his mother in 1984, Penniman was promised it would remain a Christian. We proceeded to use the rock and roll to produce recordings of the Gospel, which he called “messages rhythm, changing its position by stating that the rock and roll can be used for good or ill.

Penniman has remained single for many years, is deeply spiritual, and now lives in Tennessee. In recent years, has been with his girlfriend since mid-1950, Audrey Robinson.

The atmosphere was quiet in Yadkin County, at least publicly, a day after a long time Sheriff Mike Cain resigned in disgrace.

Cain resigned Wednesday after 12 years as sheriff, and later pleaded guilty to nine misdemeanor charges related to a secret bank account that he and two alternates used for personal use, including Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Yadkin County residents were shocked as the popular sheriff would get in trouble or resigned to the idea that most politicians are corrupt.

“You never know what some people will do,” said Larry, who declined to give his name. He was eating lunch on Thursday with his friends in the Little Richard BBQ restaurant. “Money is the root of all evil.”

Ernest Borgnine Lifetime

For Ernest Borgnine Lifetime, career has been an eternity, Earnest Borgnine was born on Jan. 24, 1917, in Hamden, Conn., was the only child born to Charles and Anna Borgnino who had emigrated from Italy. Ernest enjoyed sports, mainly boxing while growing up in Connecticut.
After graduating from New Haven, he joined the Navy where he served for ten years until 1945. After a few unsatisfying jobs, his mother suggested that his strong personality, would make him an ideal candidate for an acting career. Ernest listening to his mother's suggestion and enrolled at the Randall School of Drama in Hartford.

In 1949, Ernest Borgnine made his acting debut on Broadway playing a male nurse in "Harvey." Borgnine moved to Los Angeles to consider a film career in 1951, a debut as Bill Street in The Whistle at Eaton Falls. His career took off in 1953, and was in From Here to Eternity as Sargent "Fatso" this performance open the door for Ernest as he landed various roles in dramas and westerns developing his film making career.

I guess sometimes it is difficult to put a name to a face until I started researching this article. Oh, what memories I shared with my Grandpa and Dad watching old movies that starred Ernest Borgnine.

One of my favorites was "The Wild Bunch" about a group of elderly bank robbers trying to make one last heist before going down in a "Blaze of Glory" before retiring their guns. I mostly remember Borgnine starring in the series "Little House on the Prairie" The Lord is my Shepherd Part 1 and 2 of the series. He played the role of Jonathan, a god-like role, living on a mountain where Laura Ingalls had run away to find God and found Jonathan instead. Borgnine always seemed to play a role as a kind and generous person, who always offers advice, playing roles that were strong and compassionate that the viewer could relate to their lives.

Borgnine's years of experience in films and role-playing in TV series have made him one of the legends of the acting world. With such honorable nominations and awards, Ernest Borgnine has received an Emmy at the age of 92, for his role on the series on ER just to name a few of his outstanding achievements during his lifetime acting career.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

Chavez is the WBC “Silver” champion, while Sebastian Zbik is the regular champion, and Sergio Martinez is the champion emeritus.

This Saturday night, unbeaten middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) will face the smaller junior middleweight Billy Lyell (22-8, 4 KO’s) in a 12 round bout at the Estadio Banorte, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Chavez Jr. is ranked an incredible number #1 by the WBC and needs a win over the 5’9″ Lyell to get a title shot against the newly appointed WBC middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik next. It would have been nice had Chavez’s handlers put him in with a middleweight contender, even a fringe one, instead of the much smaller light middleweight Lyell.

However, it looks like Chavez’s management doesn’t want to take any chances that Chavez will get beaten before he gets a good money fight against Zbik. The WBC moved the dangerous WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez out of Chavez’s path by making Martinez the WBC middleweight emeritus champion so that Chavez could face Zbik for the title instead of Martinez. This puts six foot Chavez in the drivers’ seat to not only beat the much smaller Lyell and then beat the WBC paper champion Zbik in order to claim the WBC title in May.

As for Lyell, he’s a good fighter and capable of giving Chavez Jr. a lot of problems. However, Lyell is small and doesn’t have much power to speak of, hence this is why he was chosen for Chavez. Lyell fights well against weak punchers but struggles badly whenever he’s put in with sluggers. Chavez should dominate Lyell because he won’t have to worry about getting hurt from any return fire the way that he would if Chavez’s management were willing to put him in with a good middleweight from his own division instead of the junior middleweight division. I suppose this is a step up from Chavez’s last scheduled Alfonzo Gomez, a welterweight.

David Frye Dies

David Frye, known for his impressions of President Richard Nixon, died in Las Vegas, the New York Times reports. He was 77.

David Frye died at his home Monday of cardiopulmonary arrest, Clark County Coroner Mike Murphy said.

Frye’s sister, Ruth Welch of Boynton Beach, Fla., said he was a born comic genius who wrote his own material and began by imitating neighbors in Brooklyn, N.Y., where they grew up.

“He had an eye for people’s movements and an ear for their voices,” Welch told The Associated Press on Saturday. “He could really get down people’s mannerisms and intonations.”

Among other venues, Frye performed at colleges and nightclubs across the country as well as on television programs such as the “Ed Sullivan Show” and “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.”

He reached the height of his popularity doing exaggerated impressions of Nixon, with his shoulders hunched and face bowed down. He also devoted several albums to Nixon before Nixon resigned as president in 1974 amid the Watergate scandal.

Born David Shapiro in 1934 in Brooklyn, Frye also imitated such political and entertainment figures as Hubert Humphrey, George Wallace, William F. Buckley, Walter Cronkite, Kirk Douglas and Howard Cosell.

In a 1986 interview while playing the Riviera Hotel and Casino, Frye told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he rarely made television appearances anymore and therefore hardly ever worked nightclubs.

“I haven’t worked on a nightclub stage in years,” Frye said. “TV gives you exposure and in turn, drawing power. There aren’t too many shows left on TV where a guy like me can perform. So with no drawing power, I’m not in demand on the nightclub circuit.”

He recorded the albums “David Frye Presents the Great Debate” in 1980 and “Clinton: An Oral History” in 1998, but never again saw the level of fame he achieved in the Nixon years.

Welch said David Frye was a “wonderful” brother who moved to Las Vegas about eight years ago from Beverly Hills, Calif.

“He was a generous person and a very good brother in time of need,” she said. “He was very much loved by the whole family, and he’ll be terribly missed.”

Alissa Czisny US Figure Skating Championships 201

Left on skating's discard pile after a terrible 10th-place finish at last year's U.S. figure skating national championships, Alissa Czisny, 23, gave herself one more year to see if she could become the skater she hoped she might be.

Alissa Czisny became a national champion for a second time in her career, edging Rachael Flatt for first place at the US Figure Skating Championships 2011 Saturday night.

Czisny, who also won the title in 2009, landed a triple loop and her triple toe was outstanding, on the way to a free skate score of 128.74. That boosted her total to 191.24, which was well ahead of the defending champion Flatt (183.38).

“I was really nervous before I went out there,” Alissa Czisny said. “I knew exactly what I had to do. Before every jump I thought about what I was here for and what my goals were. I fought for every single thing.”

Flatt, who was in third place going into the free skate, had trouble landing a double axel-triple toe combination early in her routine. Yet, she still finished ahead of Mirai Nagasu (177.26), the 2008 champion who was in the lead following Thursday’s short program.

“It certainly wasn’t my best,” Flatt said. “I’ve been training clean programs at home and I did two clean long programs while I was here. Obviously, it was a little bit disappointing.”

Senior Bowl 2011 NFL Prospect

Senior Bowl 2011 may not have every NFL prospect. In fact, the Senior Bowl 2011 may be a rare thing nowadays, since fewer college athletes stick around for four years anymore. Yet those that do often make it to this big event in Mobile, Alabama, to improve their draft stock. With a big performance in this game, and in the practices beforehand, prospects can make a big run up or down the draft board. Therefore, the Senior Bowl 2011 will be watched very closely by many NFL franchises.

Here are, in my estimation, the five North players that Bills fans should be watching most closely this afternoon (if you're lucky enough to get NFL Network).

Cameron Jordan, DE, California (6'4", 287). Jordan made the biggest early impression of the week, dominating in the practice setting throughout all three padded practices. He was already a likely Top 15 pick, and has, at the very least, solidified his status in that territory. Jordan is big, strong, and very versatile; that versatility will make him very appealing to teams like Buffalo, who use multiple fronts defensively - Jordan wouldn't have to leave the field.

Today's Senior Bowl 2011 in Mobile will show how four years of waiting has paid off for prospects - or was not quite enough. Still, with the constant threat of a lockout, all potential draft picks aren't sure that they'll get to play in 2011, even if they get drafted. At the moment, they're still proceeding as if they will, however.

Yet the largest impact may have been made before the game. Three days of practice have helped several players rise up, while others have had their stock go down. California defensive lineman Cameron Jordan has been cited as the one to watch, and a potential top 10 pick.

Meanwhile, the Senior Bowl 2011 practices have been less kind to fellow Pac-10 prospect Jake Locker. A year ago, the Washington quarterback was projected to be a top pick. But he stayed in school and struggled during his final year - which may be a cautionary tale for Stanford's Andrew Luck.

For those who have underwhelmed so far this week, today still offers them a chance to rebound. An impressive performance in this game won't guarantee a high place in the draft, but neither will a subpar performance. Doing well would certainly build momentum for the final rush to April, although they still must prove it isn't a mirage.

Charlie Callas Died in Las Vegas

Charlie Callas, a versatile comedian whose zany faces and antics made him a regular for more than four decades on television, in films and on casino stages, has died in Las Vegas. He was 83.

Mr. Callas was a regular on "The Andy Williams Show" and "The ABC Comedy Hour." Before being permanently banned from "The Tonight Show" for making a comedic blunder (shoving Johnny Carson on-air), Callas had appeared on the show 50 times. He also toured with Frank Sinatra and was famous for using self-produced sound effects, such as stuttering, phone ringing and whistling, along with many facial expressions.

“Everybody that met him, he left them with a smile,” Mark Callas said.

For years, Charlie Callas made Johnny Carson laugh on the “Tonight Show.” But Carson banned him from returning after Callas shoved Carson off his chair in a bid for laughs in 1982.

Mark Callas said his father knew every member of the Rat Pack, a group of actors that included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.

Callas toured with Sinatra and Tom Jones, had a role with Jerry Lewis in the movie “The Big Mouth” in 1967, and was a guest on TV variety shows hosted by Jackie Gleason, Ed Sullivan, Merv Griffin, Andy Williams and Flip Wilson. Callas guest-hosted on the “Joey Bishop Show.”

He also played restaurant owner Malcolm Argos in the 1970s TV series “Switch” with Robert Wagner and Eddie Albert, and had roles in Mel Brooks’ films “High Anxiety” and “History of the World: Part I.”

Callas grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II before beginning a career as a drummer with big bands starring Tommy Dorsey and Buddy Rich.

He was a natural comic, and it wasn’t long before he gave up drumming for standup routines. He dropped a vowel from his legal name, Callias, when he took to the stage.

“He was just messing around with the guys and it worked, I guess,” Mark Callas said.

He was Charlie Callas when he made his first television appearance in 1963 on the “Hollywood Palace” variety show.

Mark Callas, who produces the “American Superstars” celebrity impersonators show in Las Vegas, said he encouraged his parents to move to Las Vegas from New York in 2002.

Larry Callas said the death of his mother, Evelyn Callas in July at age 80, broke his father’s heart.

Funeral arrangements were being made at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas.

Courtney Bowles Loveland Teacher

Courtney Bowles, a 31-year-old teacher at Mountain View High School in Loveland Colorado was jailed Friday after a police officer allegedly caught her on top of a 16-year-old student while having sex with him in her car.

Bowles was arrested for sex assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and sex assault on a child in a position of trust, police said. However, the district attorney's office has not formally charged her yet, according to The Denver Post. She is scheduled to appear in court next week.

A court order forbids the Fort Collins woman from getting within 100 feet of the boy's home and school, the newspaper reported, and she cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Bowles has no criminal record, and according to Loveland police, this is believed to be an isolated incident. She was not a classroom teacher at the high school, but did tutor some students.

John Paulson Personally Made $5 Billion Last Year

John Paulson Big Haul
Hedge fund investor
John Paulson made $5 billion last year. That's enough money to pay the pensions of three retired members of Congress!

That would have been impossible.

In order to do that, Paulson's funds would have had to have made $25 billion last year, and kept the entire 20% the fund earned in profits to himself, paying none of his portfolio managers.

Paulson manages just over ~$30 billion, and he didn't double the size of his fund. But he did earn $5 billion.

So how'd he do it?

Investing in his own fund -- he put his own money in and it churned out $4 billion, according to the WSJ.

So $4 billion of it wasn't really compensation, it was capital gains income. Which is even better! But still an important distinction. He made $5 billion two different ways.

The remaining about $1 billion in profits came from compensation. The largest hedge fund in Mr. Paulson's $36 billion investment portfolio, Advantage Plus, grew 17% last year, while another big one rose 11%, according to the WSJ. Paulson's gold denominated fund was up about 37% in 2010, according to an investor. (It was up 33.6% in December.)

His fund gained on shorts on Euro banks, profits from an investment Citi, and of course a lot came from gold.

So John Paulson earned about $1 billion from the 2 and 20% fees hedge funds managers take out of the fund, and $4 billion from investing in his own fund. $1 billion in compensation. $4 billion in personal investment gains.

Christa Mcauliffe

Just before noon on January 28, 1986, people watched with excitement as the space shuttle Challenger lifted off from its Florida launch pad -- but that excitement and hope soon turned into horror. What set this one apart was the diversity of the crew and the addition of the first teacher in space, Christa McAuliffe. The shuttle took off buoyed by hope and pride, watched by a nation enamored with the great U.S. space program and by schoolchildren filling classrooms early in the morning.

Seventy-three seconds later, the shuttle disappeared into an orange and white cloud, and the nation stood in shock and disbelief.

President Ronald Reagan, in a moving broadcast to the nation that afternoon, paraphrased a sonnet written by John Gillespie Magee, a young American airman killed in World War II saying the crew "slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God."

Moment 4 Life Video

The Thank Me Later rapper co-starred as Nicki Minaj love interest in her "Moment 4 Life" video, adding more intrigue to their flirtatious union. But when the Pink Friday star explained how she managed to reel Drizzy in for the clip, she proved to be a pretty demanding lady.

The music video for the single was shot and directed by Chris Robinson. The president of Young Money Entertainment, Mack Maine, told MTV News, “We’re still trying to work out the date for the next video with [Nicki Minaj] and Drake for the ‘Moment 4 Life’ video. That’s the next project. “Moment 4 Life” is the first music video shot in a string of music videos to be released for promotion. In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Minaj revealed that Roman Zolanski’s mother, Martha Zolanski, will make a physical debut in the music video.[15] In an interview with MTV news, Minaj discussed the marriage concept of the music video between her and her label-mate Drake, stating “Obviously, Drake and I, we’ve played around so much with the whole marriage thing and stuff like that, so people have come to be kind of intrigued about us and it’s where we’re shooting the video together. So I was like, there has to be some sort of romantic storyline. It’s Drake and me.” Drake additionally added “I mean, it’s a fantasy video. You’ve got a very regal environment, and you’ve got Nicki doing what she does—big outfits, big everything. Yeah, I love that girl, man. I’m not going to lie to you. The twist of it, the concept of it, I don’t want to give it all away.”

Resistant Starch Foods

Carbs from Resistant Starch foods will make you thin, said Health magazine. Resistance Starch helps people “eat less, burn more calories, feel more energized and less stressed, and lower cholesterol.”

According to the Skinny Carbs Diet: Carb Lover’s Diet Cookbook by David Feder RD, carbs should not be cut from meals. Resistant starch has fewer calories than regular starches but is more filling so dieters feel satisfied quicker.

Bananas, corn , potatoes, yams, pasta, pearl Barley, whole grain bread, navy beans, oatmeal, lentils and brown rice are some of the common resistant starch foods.

Some of them have fibrous shell. Others contain starch that the human stomach's enzymes can't break down. In some regards, they are similar to fiber and provide some of the same benefits to people.

Health magazine has a released a book called The Carb Lovers Diet: Eat What You Love, Get Slim For Life to capitalize on this research and provide recipes to go with it.

The key is to increase total carb intake and up the percentage of carbs from Starch Resistant foods, said Health magainze.

Chris Medina American Idol

Chris Medina, from Oak Forest, Illinois, near Chicago floored the judges with his incredible performance at the Milwaukee auditions, which were screened last night in the first of this week's two shows.

The 26-year old barista from Illinois appeared on Wednesday's tryout episode of the national singing competition, and brought with him his girlfriend, Julia Ramos. She was there for a different kind of inspiration: two weeks before they were to marry, Ramos was in a car accident, leaving her with brain damage.

Now Ramos' caretaker, Medina tried out for the show, bringing Ramos along and introducing her to judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

Afterwards Jennifer told her: 'That’s such a beautiful song.' Patterson replies: 'Thank you,' mistaking her remark for a compliment.

But after being set straight, she storms out of the audition room, after insisting: 'I'm not even upset,' and accusing the judges of rejecting her because she is not skinny enough.

Geeky teacher Scott Dangerfield shows you should 'never judge a book by its cover,' in the words of Randy Jackson after singing a tuneful and adept Amos Lee track.

But student Megan Frazier fails to hit the right note as she attempts Justin Bieber's Baby.

What is Oprah Secret?

Oprah has a secret! Oprah’s big secret will be revealed today on her show, but Perez Hilton has already posted a spoiler! If you can’t wait to know what Oprah’s family secret is, then read on after the jump to find out!

And the chat rooms and blogs are buzzing over what it might be.

Whatever it is, notes CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller, Winfrey promises it will be a real bombshell.

All oprah said so far is she "was given some news that literally shook me to my core. … I've been keeping a family secret for months, and you're gonna hear it straight from me. … I thought I'd seen it all, but this, my friends, is the miracle of all miracles."

After years of reuniting loved ones, Winfrey is promising viewers the most anticipated one in her show's 25 year history -- and it's her own, saying, "This time I'm the one being reunited."

And, Miller observes, while she's keeping the details a secret, it's sent oprah fans into a frenzy, with speculation online that Winfrey could be revealing the identity of a long lost family member, or even news about her father.

"There has been speculation in the past," points out In Touch Weekly Senior Editor Amy Palmer, "that Vernon Winfrey is not her actual biological father, so this is something people are saying that it could be."

Through the years, Winfrey has shared some of her most intimate secrets, ranging from an abusive childhood to drug abuse. Now, with her show in its final season, the Queen of Talk has done a series of high-profile interviews, addressing, among other things, rumors of a lesbian relationship with best friend Gayle King. "She's the friend that everyone deserves," Winfrey told Barbara Walters. " … I'm not even kind of a lesbian."

Winfrey even revealed she considered suicide after learning of an unwanted teen pregnancy, telling Piers Morgan, "I was 14 years old and felt nothing but … relief, because I thought, before the baby was born, 'I'm gonna have to kill myself. I'm gonna have to." '

With a life lived so openly in the public eye, Winfrey's always had a skill for capturing attention. Later Monday, Miller says, we'll see if she's still got it.

Jets Steelers in AFC Championship

The NFL Network research crew has finished crunching the numbers, so here’s a look at the most notable nuggets from the Steelers’ 24-19 win over the Jets at Heinz Field.

PITTSBURGH - No matter the scheme that the Jets attempted to implement against the Steelers in the AFC title game Sunday night, one thing remained true in the opening half. "I just think we never tackled," Rex Ryan said.

Few calls stopped the Steelers in the first half of the Jets' 24-19 loss. Tailback Rashard Mendenhall rushed for 95 yards. Steeler tailbacks, wideouts and tight ends fought off tacklers to get into the secondary, forcing Darrelle Revis and Eric Smith into run-stopping responsibilities. It took an interception by safety Brodney Pool and sacks by Calvin Pace and Trevor Pryce in the third quarter to make the second half a game.

"You can't win in this league if you don't stop the run," Pryce said. "Kid (Mendenhall) was running out of his body."

Ryan and coordinator Mike Pettine, a package deal since Pettine joined the Ravens as the assistant defensive line coach to Ryan in 2002, molded the Jets into the league's third-ranked defense, at turns deferring to the other while showing differing looks. In the playoffs, Ryan became more pro-active in making final decisions, allowing their differences to dissipate under clouds of smoke from victory cigars.

They met their limit, though, against the Steelers.

Their complementary approach collected wins in playoff matches against two of the league's elite quarterbacks, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, but Ben Roethlisberger and Mendenhall were different, cobbling together a clock-eating approach that efficiently moved the ball. Roethlisberger's biggest slip, a fumble in his end zone, resulted in a safety, giving the Jets new life after a goal-line stand by the Steeler defense.

"It's difficult. We believe in every single guy on the coaching staff," Antonio Cromartie said. "We buy into everything ... but we ran out of time."

The exchanges between Ryan, on the sideline, and Pettine, above the field in the booth, are carried over cable wire and often contain colorful language on both ends. "If anybody ever recorded us on the headsets, we'd have our own reality show," Pettine said last week. "People say we're like brothers on the headset, and we've been approached after the game and they're like, 'Hey, are you and Rex OK?'"

When Pittsburgh wideout Antonio Brown caught a first-down pass on the first play after the two-minute warning, Ryan slammed his headset to the ground. Their game plan in the AFC title game was not good enough again.

"We didn't tackle," safety Eric Smith said. "It was just bad football."
