The Celtics Signing Chris Johnson to a 10-day Contract: Boston Celtics signed center Chris Johnson to a 10-day contract on Thursday, a second-best in their exceedances (and still rang-up) frontcourt.
Johnson, a lean 6-foot-11 center at LSU, averaging 16.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game this season with the Dakota Wizards in the NBA Development League. Having spent time with Boston in spring training, he earned a call-cons the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this year and appeared in two games.
Johnson is the third big man in the LSU List Boston to join Shaquille O'Neal and Glen Davis. It is a troublesome right Achilles injury, and O'Neal, Johnson forced the Celtics to achieve, especially when the trade-off, and Kendrick Perkins, and Semih Erden Thursday in separate agreements.
"We had to camp," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said before Thursday's tilt against the Denver Nuggets with a new look. "He plays tonight. He does not know what he's doing, but he is there, and he is already there. We needed a body and can play a little '. It was a great D-League."
Johnson, ironically, was addressed No 86 (perhaps out of sheer necessity). This amount is, of course, was previously owned by Erden.
